About us
Safer and Supportive Salisbury (SaSS) is a network of individual volunteers and representatives of local community groups, statutory servicers and care provider.
Our aim is to make the city of Salisbury a safe, supportive and inclusive community for everyone who lives or works in the city and for all visitors in and around Salisbury.
We are totally independent and receive no statutory funding, so all of our projects are funded through donations, grant applications or sponsorship. Your support for our work will enable more small projects that make a difference like these ones to flourish:
- We set up and administer the Safe Places scheme within which shops, cafés, public places and other venues where anyone who feels frightened, distressed, disorientated or at risk while they are out and about in Salisbury can go to ask for support and help straight away.
- Get Connected, which is helping people who are isolated to get on line with loaned tablets and one to one coaching, plus follow up support.
- Hidden Figures, which is a community arts project to bring joy and creativity to the streets by bringing a trail of nine life size figures of real life Salisbury people to hidden corners of the city.
- We have overseen the installation and training for the use of defibrillators in the city centre.
- City ‘Showcases’ in the Guildhall with support and information on mental health, autism, unpaid carers and dementia.
